At Re-Earth Initiative, we take our duty of care and our commitment to do no harm very seriously. This applies everywhere we work, and to everyone affiliated with Re-Earth Initiative, including staff, community members, volunteers, partners, beneficiaries, and suppliers.
To support this, we have created the Trust Line. It is a secure way for anyone, whether part of Re-Earth Initiative or of the public, to raise concerns about possible misconduct related to our work.
The Trust Line helps us spot problems early on and take appropriate action quickly. Reports can be made about any conduct in breach of the law or our Ethics & Accountability Framework. This includes, but is not limited to, misconduct by any individual or group connected with Re-Earth Initiative, structural issues within Re-Earth Initiative, or any incident or misconduct linked to a project, partner, or organisation that is currently or has previously received funding from Re-Earth Initiative, or is otherwise affiliated with us.
We operate two reporting streams that any person with credible information can access, depending on the nature of the misconduct witnessed:
Reports can be made anonymously. If you choose this option, you will receive a Case ID to log back in and respond to follow-up questions that may arise as part of the investigation. However, it is recommended that reports are not made anonymously, as including your name makes handling the case a lot easier.
If you want to make a report, please access our reporting system at trust.reearthin.org. To protect your identity, our platform is also available via the TOR Network: pozsxpl32svkfmbxbo5vindwjxkin2azoih2ebjoa2gaynftbxqtd5yd.onion.
Thank you for helping us build a culture of accountability and trust.
• Who can report an incident?
We encourage anyone to come forward with credible information on misconduct or incidents. That also applies where someone has not themselves observed any misconduct but has had their attention drawn to possible misconduct by others or suspects that misconduct has occurred but is not themselves involved. Neither the person making a report nor anyone providing assistance may suffer any disadvantages in the exercise of the right to make a report.
• What happens if the allegations turn out to be false?
Our Trust Line is based on good faith and if you feel according to our values and ethos that if you need to report, please do so. All reports will be looked at very carefully in order to assess if the allegations should be investigated. If during the assessment or later during the investigation, we conclude that the allegations were made in bad faith and/or with the will to harm, disciplinary consequences might be taken on the reporter.
• Should I identify myself in a report?
We encourage you to reveal your identity while reporting as you potentially facilitate an investigation and a proper follow-up.
Although raising a complaint anonymously is not recommended, as adding your name makes handling the case easier, you have the option to remain anonymous. The greatest level of anonymity can be achieved by calling up the website via the Tor browser. After raising a complaint, the person raising the complaint is given a personal numerical code that can be used to call up the complaint at a later point in time. That is important, because it opens up a channel of communication via which follow-up questions can be asked without the need to input any personal contact data.
• What can I achieve by making a report?
By making a report, you will bring your concerns to the attention of the organization through a secure channel, on an anonymous basis if you wish, so that we may all work in a safe and respectful environment. We will listen to you, we will support you, and we will take action.
• Who is the Ombudsperson?
The Ombudsperson is an officer appointed internally, responsible for overseeing the operation of the Integrity Line, and the key person responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to our Ethics & Accountability framework. The Ombudsperson reports directly to the Chair of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors on all relevant matters.
