HidroClim El Chaltén is Argentina’s first citizen science initiative for glacier monitoring, launched in the Río de las Vueltas basin in Santa Cruz. The project engages residents, hikers, and guides in collecting hydroclimatic data through mobile apps and river gauges to track glacier melt and water levels. In collaboration with scientific institutions like IANIGLA-CONICET and IRD France, it generates accessible, community-driven climate data while raising awareness of glacier conservation. By linking science, education, and local participation, HidroClim empowers communities to understand and respond to the impacts of climate change on their environment.

Asociación Boana is an environmental organization based in Argentina that promotes citizen science and climate action. Through community-led monitoring and education, Boana connects people, science, and nature to protect glaciers, rivers, and ecosystems across the Andes.
