While running The Mudzi Cooking project, Maria realized that despite the success registered of the education programs, young girls and women were suffering from finding sources of energy on daily basis due to a lack of wood and other alternative sources.Through Clean Energy for All’s focus on efficient cooking stove improvements, the project will decrease pressure on forests for firewood and subsequently trim deforestation, serving as a climate change adaptation and mitigation mechanism.By leveraging briquettes, which are made through a simple process of mixing locally found agricultural waste and waste paper, the project will principally provide an alternative, reliable, and environmentally friendly source of cooking energy. It will also help create a source of income, improve livelihoods, minimize waste, reduce reliance on firewood/charcoal and enhance afforestation.
