Through the Mikoko Yetu "Our Mangrove" project, SOA Tanzania will establish a locally managed and protected mangrove forest, adopting a total area of 3,000Ha in Bagamoyo, Tanzania for restoration, conservation and protection.The project is aimed at fighting climate change, restoring ocean health, and sustainability, while empowering local indigenous coastal communities and raising awareness on how human beings can sustainably coexist with our oceans.SOA Tanzania also intends to familiarize local communities with seaweed farming so as to reduce their dependence on fisheries and improve their livelihood, while keeping in mind that the ocean is our greatest ally in fighting against climate change.

Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA), Tanzania is a registered youth-led NGO and the official hub of the international NGO, Sustainable Ocean Alliance, in Tanzania. SOA Tanzania works to empower youth and local coastal communities via ocean conservation, health, and sustainability, and the promotion of a sustainable blue economy.
