CEPC Toliman runs workshops to teach individuals how to start and run ecological family farms. Participants include local farmers and families, primarily from Maya-Kaqchikel communities with extremely limited resources.They facilitate farmer-to-farmer training on regenerative farming, as well as food processing and nutrition workshops, and will be utilizing the grant to enhance the operational capacity, maintenance, and caretaking of the community center, aquaculture systems, seed bank, and other facilities.The funds will also enable the center’s connectivity to electricity, and thereby help with basic lighting and internet facilities, technical improvements for the workshops and training programs, and CEPC’s defence of the right of Maya people to define their own localized and culturally appropriate food systems.
