Over the years, small scale farmers have been battling with declining crop yields due largely to falling soil fertility as a result of over cropping, poor agronomic and conservation practices and climate change.Given the impact on the food and nutrition security of the communities, there is an urgent need to restore the fertility of the soil so as to improve crop yields. An ecologically proven approach is the use of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) to restore the fertility of damaged soils.Eco Friendly Soil Health Improvement using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) and Indigenous Microorganisms will enable more than 500 women, men and youth to adopt sustainable practices in their activities and improve yield. Household food and nutrition security will be improved. The project will help restore the ecosystem in terms of restoring soil health.
The VYFA is a youth-based, social-impact, non-profit making organization with the vision to economically empower rural women, men and youth in the Volta Region of Ghana. The mandate of the Association includes to train and empower the next generation of entrepreneurial young women and men in sustainable agricultural practices.
